Keeping you up to date for your child’s every step

New Parents Introduction

New Parents are invited to an introduction, which is held the term before your child is confirmed to start. This is an opportunity for you to meet the Head of Nursery and various other members of our team.  We will explain the day to day schedule of the nursery, the settling-in period and answer any questions you may have regarding SmileOn. We kindly ask you not to bring your children to this event, as this is an opportunity for parents to learn about the setting.

Settling-In

We understand how the first day of a child attending nursery can be an emotional time for a family. Therefore, we will work diligently with both you and your child through the settling-in process.

You can liaise with teachers about joining your child during the beginning of a settling-in session and discuss early collection in the first few weeks of this period as well.  We advise that you come for an Introductory Session with your child the term before he/she is confirmed to start to create a smooth transition between the setting and home.

Parent App

We use the parent app ‘Famly’, which provides an easy to use platform for nursery school communication, administration, logging of attendance and recording of your child’s learning journey. Access will be provided to you upon your child’s enrolment.

School Bag

On the last day of your child’s school week, you will be handed a school bag which contains your My Chatterbox.  We kindly ask you to empty your child’s schoolbag over the weekend and return it on your child’s first day back together with your My Chatterbox.

My Chatterbox

Parents are encouraged to write about their child’s weekend adventures (however small), holiday dates, illnesses, teething issues and any other information that you feel is relevant in this weekly diary.  The Up, Up and Away page contains weekly information regarding your child’s development and activities at the setting.  It also includes our term dates, topic lists, your child’s fellow students and any other information regarding the school year.

Parents Evening

Parents are invited to attend a Parents Evening.  This gives you the opportunity to meet with your child’s Teacher and to talk about their progress.  Teachers will showcase materials, resources, and example activities that children take part in daily at the setting.

Reports

Reports within the setting consist of two year progress checks and transitionary end of year (summer) reports which are based on the Early Years Foundation Stage areas. These will be completed by teachers, who have collated important milestones and developmental progress on the children in the setting throughout the school year. These reports are then reviewed by management and posted for parents.

Parents Show and Tell

We invite parents to participate in Show and Tell at 3.30 pm, this can include reading a story, singing songs, playing a musical instrument, making crafts or baked goods, and talking about a talent or a subject of interest.
